Four Peaks High Country Track is a walking &/or mountain biking track over an historic privately owned sheep station, just 2 hours from Christchurch. This 4day/night track begins and ends at Four Peaks Station, Fairlie, and is 50-60km circuit.
Accommodation for up to 10 people is in musterers’ huts which have been upgraded & fully equipped with cooking utensils, flush toilets, comfortable beds and… hot showers! Luxury tramping! All the charming station huts are situated alongside freshwater streams, in an idyllic mountain environment.
After arrival at the Track office walkers &/or bikers are briefed about the Track. Bikers follow well marked 4wheel drive tracks on a 60 km circuit. Each day covers new and exciting country, climate and topography.
A good level of fitness is required due to the varied terrain and steeper sections of hill country. Walkers need good tramping boots, bikers need spare bike tyres/tubes, and appropriate clothing for changeable weather conditions, a sleeping bag, a basic first aid kit, and sufficient food/snacks for 4 days.
This is wonderful opportunity to discover South Canterbury’s unspoiled high country environment. Pack transport to the huts is included in all options. You only carry a small day pack with your lunch & camera!
The track is open November to April, an inexpensive summer holiday to experience NZ's outdoor paradise, enjoy the fresh air and exercise, & the good company of your exclusive group of friends!
