Take me to....
After a major earthquake in 1931 much of Napier was rebuilt in the style of the day leading many to visit "The Bay" for the art deco buildings and Napiers attractive waterfront with the distinctive Norfolk Pines.
And the wines! Superb vineyards abound, many of them with cellar door shops & tastings. Hawkes Bay is one of New Zealands warmest, driest regions and this has made it one of the countrys leading producers of wine; notably red wines cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah but also with some quite stunning whites At last count the region has some 90 wineries!
Hastings is surrounded by luscious orchards and dont miss a trip up Te Mata Peak for an amazing vista. An excursion to Cape Kidnappers is well worth the effort too.
