About Natural Flames Experience
See something extraordinary; a permanently burning fire in a forest?!
Your half-day adventure starts in Murchison with a short drive in our 4wd beside a scenic river, discovering the remains of oil wells drilled last century.
At the head of the valley, see a NZ deer farm in action whilst driving across the paddocks.
Walk through rich, pristine beech forest, full of ancient mosses, listening to the song of native birds. Wild deer and goats are often spotted in clearings.
After an hour, you will encounter one of the most surreal sites you are ever likely to visit. Flames coming out of the ground, surrounded by green ferns, overhung by beech trees.
Take in the magical atmosphere whilst drinking 'billy tea' and eating pancakes cooked over the flames covered in local honey before returning to our vehicle.
One of the most amazing places you will ever visit!
