The Milford Track is often described as the finest walk in the world. This 5 day walk through the Fiordland National Park covers 54 kilometres (34 miles) from the head of Lake Te Anau to beautiful Milford Sound.
The terrain and scenery is stunning, including lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, (including the Sutherland Falls which are world famous), snow-capped mountains, and rich podocarp forests. The comfort of lodge accommodation and the excellent facilities make this track extra special. Access to the beginning of the track is by boat on Lake Te Anau.
Note: Check the DoC website for more detail. Detail contained on TrueNZ Guides website for this walking track is only meant as a summary.
